Integrates BACP Training Curriculum for counselling supervisor training.


This intensive and robust qualification is designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to provide clinical supervision for counselling practitioners.  The course is aimed at Counsellors who have acquired sufficient client work experience to contemplate the move into a clinical supervisor role. 


The course is designed based on a Humanistic Approach and underpinned by Supervision Theoretical Frameworks providing guidance of structure and a transparency of Supervision processes.  Creativity of Supervision is informed by group and individual research with a focus on increasing self-awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Anti Oppressive Practice (AOP). Refer to our policies page for further information here.


The Key Features of the Course: 




 Blended/Group work and Assessments:


The Completed Assessments includes (1) CBCAB External Case Review in addition to (2) Internal Assessment of course expectations. 


(1) External Case Review:


 A structured case review of 3,000 – 3,500 words.


This may be started as soon as the candidate is confident of their ability to integrate learning on the course into practice.


(2) Internal Course Assessments (Includes External Verification): 


The internal course work/assessments include creating a Portfolio consisting of achieving Learning Criteria over seven Learning Outcomes:


  1. Model and supervise the professional framework
  2. Model and supervise the skilled use of the relationship
  3. Model and supervise the use of theory and research on diversity
  4. Model and supervise a use-centred approach to the work
  5. Model and supervise the skilled use of the self
  6. Model and supervise the coherent use of theory, research, and skills
  7. Model and supervise the self-reflective practitioner


To achieve successful achievement of the internal course assessment/work expectations include:


  •   Monthly Candidate Learning Reviews 
  •   Supervisee record – 15 hours  
  •   Supervisory supervision record – 5 hours  
  •   1st Assignment (2,500 words): Theoretical Supervisory framework 
  •   2nd Assignment (approx. 1,500 words): Working with Diversity   
  •  Self-Review – practice and learning (approx. 1,000 words)   
  •   1 Tutor-observed skills assessment    
  •  1 case study presentation (2000 to 2500 words) with group supervision.  
  •   Tutor feedback reports on skills and group work – workplace simulations   
  •  Testimony 
  •   Supervisor’s report    
  •   Peer testimony reports on skills and group work.

Training Group Supervision:


  • Training Group Supervision with case presentations and ongoing evaluation and feedback on supervisory case work
  •  Assignment planning and criteria workshops
  • Group tutorials, individual and peer work on planning assignments, research methods, presentation skills and use of resources.
  • Tutor guidance will be provided for each assignment inclusive of the schedule of assignments and hand-in dates

Course Philosophy:


An important aspect of the course is that Tutors pride themselves on maintaining a student-led approach, to include a sensitivity in providing constructive feedback.  Continual support and guidance is offered with regular Tutorials ensuring a positive learning experience. This is complimented by external speakers from time to time. Our philosophy of ensuring  a transparency and ease of communication between students  and Tutors is aided by our tailored interactive classrooms/virtual learning environment (VLE).

Ambi Williams

Course Director/Tutor/Clinical Practice/Supervisor/Trainer

I have a wide background of experience and skills along with a Post Grad Diploma and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Health Services Management. My career history spans from working in the Department of Health, NHS and University settings. In recent years, my passion has been to make a difference to individuals, and this led me to completing my Higher Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling as a Person-Centred therapist and working therapeutically with a wide range of clients from children, young people and adults both in school and agency settings, offering both long-term and short-term counselling. I have a desire to learn and completed my Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision September 2022 and now offer supervision to both trainees/qualified counsellors which is a thoroughly rewarding experience.

 

Alongside this I am a trained mentor and coach and support individuals in achieving their goals and desires with one-to-one sessions. I have also completed a Certificate in Couples Counselling and hold a Certificate in therapeutic group facilitation.

 

Living and working in the Southeast of London, I am also a Director for Inside Out Therapies CIC and part of the Senior Management Team at The Rewise Project Agency where I have delivered a number of workshops. In addition to this, I hold a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Training and teach the Counselling course from the Foundation level to Level 4 at Diploma Level.

 

Catherine Jones

Founder/Tutor/Clinical Practice/Supervisor/Trainer

Catherine's qualifications include a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Humanistic Psychotherapy and a Post-Graduate qualification in Teaching & Education and in Supervision.  Catherine  combines a successful supervision and counselling clinical practice with delivering, creating and developing up to and including degree/research level courses.  Catherine's vast experience of training draws on academic experience of lecturing at local  Universities, Colleges.  Catherine also maintains a passion for making a difference to others by contributing as a volunteer to a local counselling charity.  The creation of  ACE Courses has been inspired in collaboration with other Course Directors to provide excellence in teaching and a positive student experience by offering a portfolio of up-to-date BACP/NCPS continual professional developmental requirements of Clinical Supervision and other bespoke courses.


Catherine is a registered and accredited member with the BACP and NCPS and remains passionate about research and undertaking a PhD in an area of Humanistic Psychotherapy. 


Areas of interest include Bereavement and Loss, Self Esteem, Loneliness, Trauma and PTSD, Couples work and Eating Disorders. In addition to adopting the Person-Centred Approach Catherine draws on a Pluralistic Approach to client work and an Integrative supervision practice.
